He has a wicked minister named Durjaya (played by Satyanarayana) who helps him in his evil deeds. They oppress the people and impose heavy taxes on them. They also plan to marry off Princess Rukmini to a cruel prince named Ranjit (played by Rajanala) from another kingdom. Chikkadu, who is actually Prince Vijay, the son of the former king of Udayagiri, decides to save the people and his beloved Rukmini from the clutches of Bhairava and Durjaya. He disguises himself as a masked vigilante and fights against them with the help of Dorakadu and his followers. He also rescues Princess Chandrika, who was kidnapped by Ranjit's men. He eventually reveals his true identity and restores peace and justice in Udayagiri.


The movie was a musical hit as well, with songs like "Doranimmapandulaga" and "Inthalo Yemojarigindi" becoming popular among the audience. The movie is available on YouTube for online streaming .


The 1988 Version




The 1988 version of Chikkadu Dorakadu was produced by Maheswari Movies and had music composed by Raj-Koti. The movie was a comedy film that spoofed the original version and other similar movies of that genre. Rajendra Prasad played the role of Chikkadu, a petty thief who pretends to be a masked hero to impress a girl named Rajini (played by Rajani). Rajini is actually a princess who is in hiding from her evil uncle Bhairava (played by Kota Srinivasa Rao). He wants to kill her and take over her kingdom. Chikkadu, along with his friend Dorakadu (played by Suthi Velu), tries to protect Rajini from Bhairava and his henchmen.


The plot of the movie is filled with hilarious situations and dialogues that poke fun at the clichés and tropes of the swashbuckler genre.
